1. Full Dentures

Full (or complete) dentures are used when all your natural teeth are missing—either in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both. There are two types of full dentures:
  • Conventional: Made after your gums have healed from tooth removal. This means you might go a few weeks without teeth.
  • Immediate: Made in advance and placed right after your teeth are removed. These are a quicker fixbut might need more adjustments later on as your gums heal and change shape.
Full dentures rest on your gums and are usually held in place by suction or a bit of denture adhesive.

2. Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are for people who still have some natural teeth left. They fill in the gaps and stop the remaining teeth from shifting around. Partial dentures usually:

  • Have a metal or acrylic base
  • Come with clasps that hook onto your natural teeth
  • Can be taken out and cleaned easily

They’re a solid option if you’re not missing all your teeth but still need help chewing or speaking comfortably.

Snap-On Dentures: A Stable and Comfortable Solution for Missing Teeth

Snap-on dentures, or complete or partial dentures attached to implants, are a secure and comfortable alternative to traditional dentures. Snap-on dentures attach to surgically placed implants in the jawbone and “snap” onto those implants with added support for your eating, speaking, and smiling. Unlike traditional dentures, snap-on dentures stay in place and do not require adhesives. They reduce irritation and are much more comfortable than traditional dentures. In addition to being comfortable and easier to use, snap-on dentures stimulate the bone density in the jaw thus preserving your bone density and supporting lasting lifelong oral health. Snap-on dentures are easy to take on and off for cleaning. Snap-on dentures function well and look natural, and can bring peace of mind and assurance back into your smile.

What is the difference between full and partial dentures?
Full dentures are used to restore a full arch of teeth in the upper or lower jaw and are supported by the gums and suction. Partial dentures are used when you still have some natural teeth; they close spaces, stop them from moving, and clamp onto existing teeth with clasps.
The traditional full dentures will last for about 5–10 years, whereas the partial dentures will last 15 years if they are properly maintained. Overdentures bonded to implants will last an entire lifetime if properly cared for, but the denture component itself will require replacement or reworking every 15–20 years.
Clean dentures daily using a soft-bristled brush and denture cleaner or mild soap. Remove and soak them overnight, and also maintain oral hygiene by cleaning gums and any remaining teeth.
It’s best to remove dentures before sleep. Wearing them overnight can lead to oral irritation or infections because the tissues under them need time to recover.
These dentures clip onto implants in your jaw for a firm fit. They can be fixed (only removable by a professional) or removable (snapping on and off). They provide better stability, prevent bone loss, and allow more natural chewing and speech.
New or poorly fitting dentures can cause soreness or blisters, often for a few weeks. Discomfort usually decreases with minor adjustments by your dentist.
