Dental Implants Near You

An implant is a tiny titanium post (or screw) that’s surgically placed into the jaw. It acts as an artificial tooth root. Once they’re in and have healed, a crown is used to cover it.

Why Get Dental Implants?

Losing a tooth—whether from injury, decay, or age—can affect your smile in multiple ways. Dental implants address this by offering a permanent solution that prevents shifting and preserves your bite pattern.
Here are some reasons people choose implants:
  • They can last years with regular upkeep.
  • Once installed, you won’t be able to tell the difference between your other teeth.
  • Unlike dentures, they don’t slip or move around.
  • Implants stimulate the bone, preventing bone loss.

What’s the Procedure Like?

Visiting our local dental practice for this treatment involves several appointments and a time commitment, but it is certainly worth it. Here is what you can expect:
  1. Consultation – One of our dentist in White Rock, BC takes X-rays and checks if you have enough healthy jawbone material for the procedure. If not, you may need to have a bone graft.
  2. Implant Placement – Using a dental drill, the implant screw is carefully inserted in your jawbone.
  3. Healing Time – It takes a few months for the screw to fuse with the bone (called osseointegration) and for your mouth to recover.
  4. Abutment and Crown – After the healing period, a connector (abutment) is added, and then the crown goes on top. The crown is the only visual part of the entire implant.

Are Implants Right for You?

Dental implants are great for most healthy adults, but not all patients are suitable. You might not be a good candidate if you have:
  • Gum disease
  • Not enough jawbone
  • Chronic conditions like uncontrolled diabetes
  • You’re a heavy smoker (it can affect healing)
Fortunately, our skilled dentists can help figure out if implants are the right fit for you. They’ll also be able to suggest alternative treatments if necessary. Don’t be shy to ask any questions you have.

Socket Preservation

Socket preservation is a treatment that takes place after a tooth is extracted to assist in protecting the jawbone. If a tooth is extracted, the vacant socket can start to shut down or collapse following some time, which could influence how future dental restorations fit or appear. To ensure this does not happen, a dentist seals up the area where the tooth once was with a special bone material to ensure the bone’s health and integrity. This process maintains the normal shape of your jaw and gums and can make dental implant placement easier and more successful in the future.

Advantages of Implants Compared to Dentures

There are a number of benefits dental implants possess over the common dentures. In contrast to dentures that are placed on the gums, making them loose or painful, implants are deeply embedded into the jawbone and act and feel as if they are natural teeth. Implants also maintain the jawbone in health by stopping bone loss, which normally happens with missing teeth. With implants, you can eat the foods you love, speak with confidence, and smile freely without fearing to slip or the use of adhesives. They are also meant to last your lifetime if given adequate care, making them a stable and trustworthy option.

All on X Implants

All on X implants is a new solution to full arch rehabilitation of missing teeth by depending on several implants for restoring a whole arch. Instead of an implant for each missing tooth, this solution employs about four to six implants to facilitate a whole fixed set of teeth. It is a wonderful option for individuals who have lost most or all of their teeth and need a stable, permanent option. All on X implants work well, appear natural, and in many instances can be done in fewer appointments. Patients can enjoy increased comfort, confidence, and overall well-being.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are tiny titanium posts planted surgically in the jawbone to serve as artificial roots for teeth. After healing, they are capped with a one-of-a-kind crown that’s not only natural-looking but natural-feeling too.
The ideal candidate would lack one or more of their teeth, have enough jawbone thickness, and have good general health. He or she should be cooperative with oral hygiene measures and must not have uncontrollable conditions like diabetes or heavy smoking.
The implants are extremely effective and long-lasting, with a duration of decades. The visible crown can last between 10 and 15 years if well taken care of, whereas the titanium post lasts a whole lifetime.
The actual procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and therefore, it will not cause pain. There is then mild to moderate swelling and pain afterward, but these are manageable using over-the-counter or prescribed medication for pain.
Initial recovery typically takes a few days to a week as swelling subsides. Full healing and bone integration (osseointegration) generally take between 3 and 6 months.
Implants are steadier, more natural-looking, and more permanent than dentures. Implants stimulate the jawbone, prevent bone loss, and do not shift or slip while chewing or speaking.
